Exposé/Intermezzo/SymposiumExposé/Intermezzo/Symposium was written during a period as composer in residence with Oslo Sinfonietta, and premiered by the
ensemble 18.01.2000. This piece is a kind of awkward Concerto Grosso, with Percussion, Corno Inglese and Piano in the concertino.
(Now and then visited by other members of the orchestra.) The aim of the first part (Exposé) is to investigate the hierarchys
in the ensemble, questioning the ”terror-balance” between the individual and the group. Second part (Intermezzo) is a failed
attempt to write melody, with a scaled-down ensemble and a more poetic soundscape as result. The third part (Symposium) is
a piece with 12 virtual ”themes” constantly varied, superimposed and colliding. All three parts can be performed seperatly,
or as one piece in three movements. Exposé/Intermezzo/Symposium may be played either by large ensemble (Solo strings) or by
radio orchestra.
